DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

You are eligible to drive with DiDi if you meet the following requirements and submit the documents listed below.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • 21 years of age or above
    • A vehicle that meets DiDi's vehicle requirements
    • All the necessary documents required in your state or territory
    • An insured driver for the vehicle you plan to drive
    • A valid full Australian driver license and have held a full driver license in any Australian state or territory for at least 6 months (for Victoria) or 12 months (exceptions apply in certain states and territories)

    • Your full driver’s license (for the state or territory you intend to drive in)
    • Your proof of ID (passport or birth certificate)
    • Vehicle insurance certificate specifying the state or territory you will be driving in
    • Other documents (may vary with state or territory)

  • ACCEPTING YOUR FIRST TRIP

    Once you’ve successfully registered, download the driver app, sign in, set your status to “GO ONLINE” and you’ll automatically start to receive requests. To accept a ride, simply tap the “Accept Request” notification when it appears.

    Work whenever you want. When you want to take a break or stop driving, remember to change your status to "GO OFFLINE" so that you stop receiving requests.

    When you’ve finished working, set your home destination and DiDi will only show you rides heading in that direction.

  • Signing up
    • How to signup as a driver partner?
      You can signup through the DiDi Driver app, which you can download through app Store or Google Play. Once all set, you can get on road with four simple steps:
      If you drive in VIC:
      1. Signup with your email address and phone number through DiDi Driver app
      2. Upload the required documents to identify your driver qualifications, including:
        a. Proof of ID (passport or a birth certification)
        b. A full Victorian driver license; must be held at least 6 months
        c. Portrait picture (no hats, no sunglasses, non-reflective)
        d. Driver Accreditation(DA)
      3. Upload the following documents to meet the vehicle requirement:
        a. Vehicle insurance (third party property damage or comprehensive insurance, in which the driver should be insured)
        b. Vehicle inspection report - original document, or any supporting document to prove that the vehicle has passed a car inspection
      4. Ensure you have a Car License(HCL)
        a. If you've already have one, no need to upload any document for this, as we'll help you to check
        b. If you don't have one, we will contact you to guide you through the application
      If you drive in NSW:
       1. Signup with your email address and phone number through DiDi Driver app;
       2. Upload the required documents to identify your driver qualifications, including:
        a. Proof of ID (it can be a passport or a birth certification)
        b. A full NSW driver license, help for at least 12 months
        c. Portrait picture (no hats, no sunglasses, non-reflective)
        d. Background check if you already have one (if not, we'll contact you to help you get one)
       3. Upload required document to meet the vehicle requirement, details as below:
        a. An vehicle insurance (third party property damage or comprehensive insurance, in which the driver should be insured)
        b. Original document, or any supporting document to prove that the vehicle has passed the car inspection (early days known as "pink slip")
      4. Ensure you have a passenger transport licence code(PTLC)
        a. No need to upload any document for this, we'll confirm that you have one
        b. If you do not have one, we will contact you to guide you through the process
      Once you log in toyour driver app, you can see all steps mentioned above. If you don't have all documents at hand, feel free to save your application and visit later.
      To be a DiDi driver, you should meet below minimum requirements:
       • Be at least 21 years of age
       • Have access to a vehicle that meets DiDi's vehicle requirements
       • Hold a valid full driver’s licence in your state or territory
       • Have held a full driver’s licence in any Australian state or territory for at least 12 months (exceptions apply in certain states and territories)
       • Provide all the necessary documents required in your state or territory
       • Be listed as an insured driver for the vehicle you plan to drive
      The DiDi's vehicle requirements:
       • Are in excellent working condition, with no cosmetic damage
       • Are registered and CTP-insured in NSW/VIC
       • Are 10 years old or less (2008 model or newer as of 2018)
       • Have 4 doors
       • Seat 4-7 passengers plus the driver
       • Have working windows and air conditioning
        • Are able to pass a car inspection
       • Are not taxis, ex-taxis, government, branded or rebuilt vehicles
       • No pre-2010 Ford Falcons (or similar)
    • Does my vehicle require a vehicle check?
      Most vehicles in Australia require an annual safety check once every 12 months to ensure the minimum safety requirements are met.
      In NSW & VIC, if a proof of vehicle check completed in the past 12 months for your vehicle can be provided,
      your vehicle does not have to go through another vehicle check again.
      Depending on which state you are in, the process may vary slightly.

  • Using App
    • How do I download the driver app with iOS devices?
      To start your journey with DiDi, please download and install the DiDi Driver app by following these steps:
      —Tap the app store icon in your mobile device and search for "DiDi Driver".
      —Select the DiDi Driver icon and tap GET, your device may ask for your app Store password, if so enter the password and the download should start.
      —When the download is finished, the GET button will change to INSTALL, tap INSTALL and the installation should start automatically.
      After installation, the INSTALL button will change to OPEN, you may tap the OPEN button to open the DiDi Driver app.
      —Now you are able to login in or register your DiDi Driver account and start your trip.
    • How do I download the driver app with Andriod devices?
      To enjoy your journey with DiDi, please download and install the DiDi Driver app follow these steps:
      —Tap the Google Play Store icon in your mobile device and search for DiDi Driver.
      —Download and install the DiDi Driver app.
      —Open the app and login in or register your DiDi Driver account and start your trip.

    • How can I improve my rating?
      We asked riders what they appreciate most about drivers, below are things they value most:
      —When drivers are friendly and greet riders when they get in and out of the car
      —When drivers offer to assist riders with luggage, without having to ask
      —Riders really enjoy being offered treats such as chewing gum, water and charging cables during the trip
      —When drivers ask if riders have preferred routes or if they would prefer to follow the GPS
      —Clean and tidy cars with minimal odours
      —You can also find specific rider feedback in your app, under account and satisfaction rate.
    • Can I update my bank account information?
      Yes. tap the "Account" in the lower right corner on the homepage, tap your profile picture, and tap "bank" to add or edit your card information.
      For now only one card is allowed to be added.
    • Can I update my account information?
      Yes you can update your name, profile picture, phone number and password in your DiDi driver app.
      Simply tap the "Account" icon on the lower right corner.
      Then tap your profile picture to change to a new one; tap "Settings", followed by "Account Security" t change your password and mobile number.
  • Earning & Payment
    • How are trip fares calculated?
      Your weekly earnings are all the trip fares paid by riders, minus any DiDi commission fee, booking fee and relevant state taxes. A detailed breakdown of every fare can be found in "Fare Details", under "Trip History" in your app.
      Each fare breakdown may include the following:
      Base rate - The price for pickup
      Distance rate - Rate per minute from the beginning to the end of a trip
      Time rate - Rate per kilometre of the route from the beginning to the end of a trip
      Waiting rate - Riders are charged 55c a minute for each minute the driver waits for the rider, begins after 3 minutes of waiting.
      Booking fee - DiDi charges a booking fee directly to the Rider of 55c.
      GST - The GST portion of the trip, you will receive this as part of your earnings. You are required to pay GST to the ATO each financial year.
      Tolls - If applicable, the rider will pay the driver for any tolls incurred.
      In NSW relevant state taxes include:
      NSW CTP Charge - a $0.10 per kilometre charge applies on all ridesharing trips in NSW. This is charged directly from the Rider
      NSW Government Passenger Levy -a$1 levy applies on all ridesharing trips in NSW. This is charged directly from the Rider
      If you think you have been charged incorrectly please email customer support in Driver app via your registered email with a copy of the trip details
      In VIC relevant state taxes include:
      Commercial Passenger Vehicle Service Levy - From 1 July 2018, a $1 levy will apply on all ridesharing trips. This is charged directly from the Rider

    • How do cancellation fees work?
      We know it can be disappointing when a rider cancel the request while you are making an effort to pick them up, So a cancellation fee is charged to riders and paid to drivers under reasonable conditions.
      A $10 cancellation fee may be charged to rider's account if the rider cancels 5 minutes after the driver has accepted the request. Cancellation fees are paid to Drivers minus commission and relevant taxes.
      However, we also understand that if a rider waits too long, they may no longer need a ride, so if a rider waits for more than 15 minutes they can cancel for free.
